A New Organization Formed to Celebrate and Share Cape Breton’s Celtic Culture
The Celtic Heart of North America Co-operative is a new organization that has been formed to celebrate, share and preserve the only living Celtic culture in North America – Cape Breton Island’s.
The Co-operative is bringing together key organizations that are actively involved in sharing and preserving Cape Breton’s Celtic experiences, including:
- Celtic Colours International Festival
- Celtic Music Interpretive Centre
- Gaelic College of Celtic Arts & Crafts
- Highland Village Museum / An Clachan Gàidhealach
- Glenora Inn & Distillery
- Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design
- Fèis An Eilein
- Cape Breton Regional Municipality
- Inverness County
- Richmond County
- Victoria County
Collectively, the members of the Co-operative are working to provide an unforgettable vacation experience to a growing segment of travellers seeking authentic cultural and musical experiences. The group is developing strategic partnerships with a number of accommodation providers on the island who also strive to present Cape Breton’s Celtic culture.
The Co-operative is supported by Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation and Nova Scotia Tourism, Culture and Heritage. As well, Nova Scotia’s Office of Gaelic Affairs and Destination Cape Breton serve as advisors to the Co-operative.
