To really immerse yourself in the culture, we offer a number of learning opportunities. Put yourself in the shoes of early settlers to learn what life was like for early Gaels or take a workshop in traditional fiddling or piping.

The Gaelic College of Celtic Arts & Crafts The Gaelic College of Celtic Arts & Crafts provides in-depth learning opportunities during their Summer School Program in many of the areas of Cape Breton’s culture, including fiddle, piping, piano, step-dancing, Gaelic language and song. Highland Village An Clachan Gaidhealach The Highland Village/An Clachan Gaidhealach provides a glimpse into the life of Gaels in Nova Scotia through its living history site. As part of its daily operation, it includes demonstrations of traditional Gaelic life and adds additional experiences through its interactive Children’s and Youth Programs and popular Candlelight Tours. Celtic Music Interpretive Centre The Celtic Music Interpretive Centre offers daily live demonstrations in Celtic music, plus interactive demonstrations in fiddle playing and step dancing in its display area. The Celtic Colours International Festival The Celtic Colours International Festival offers a full schedule of workshops and master classes during the festival each October. The Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design The Cape Breton Centre for Craft and Design offers classes and workshops in a variety of disciplines from pottery to quilting to jewellery making and just about everything in between.
