Discover all the richness of Scottish Gaelic and Celtic history right here in the heart of Cape Breton. The Highland Village is located on a stunning 43-acre property and offers an unforgettable encounter with nature as well as our true, living Cape Breton tradition. Nova Scotia’s incredible Scottish Gaelic culture comes alive on these hills with costumed staff in full historic dress, an array of farm animals and much more.

Take a tour up the hill and walk through period buildings with historic design, filled with related artifacts. Sit and enjoy a breath-taking view while listening to the annual Highland Village Day concert featuring premium traditional Cape Breton Gaelic music, song and dance. Be sure to visit the gift shop where you can find the finest selection of Cape Breton, Gaelic and East Coast music, Gaelic resources, Highland Village souvenirs, clothing, giftware and local crafts. Perhaps you’ll have the opportunity to sit in on one of the many language and culture workshops offered by the Highland Village throughout the year.

Cuairt nan Coinnlean/Candlelight Tour
An intimate evening featuring a storytelling tour of this living history site with the beauty of a Cape Breton sunset. Alternate Thursdays, July & August, 7-9 pm. $12 adult, $28 family, $5 students. Prepaid reservations required. A Celtic Heart recommended experience.
Làithean Sona/Happy Days Childrens Living History Program
A living history program for children to get a sense of what life was like for Gaels in days past featuring chores, crafts, games, language, and song. Costumes provided. Ages 8-12 only. Wednesdays, July & August, 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per child. Prepaid reservations required. A Celtic Heart recommended experience.
Na Deugairean/The Teenagers Living History Program for Youth
Partake in this living history program for teens and get a sense of the responsibilities and the lifestyles of young Gaels including chores, crafts, language and song. Costumes provided. Ages 13-17. Alternate Thursdays, July & August, 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per child. Prepaid reservations required. A Celtic Heart recommended experience.
