I started travelling to Scotland in the mid 90’s and loved hearing the shopkeepers say “cheers” when they handed over my purchase. Ten years later I began to hear the same in Nova Scotia.

https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/and-word-today-is…-brilliant#comments banjo brilliant Cape Breton fiddle guitar Hilda Chiasson Joella Foulds JP Cormier Liz Doherty mandolin Nashville Nova Scotia Scotland Wed, 04 Jul 2012 14:17:09 +0000 Max MacDonald 882 at https://www.celticheart.ca Hidden Wealths https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/hidden-wealths

Culture, and specifically language, takes ownership in those select few who are what I refer to as that culture’s hidden wealths. There is a time in life for everyone, where, when you are ready, you begin to (coincidentally...?) unearth these fantastic discoveries in life.

https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/hidden-wealths#comments Boisdale Cape Breton fiddle Gaelic language gaelic resources guitar Joe Peter MacLean MacAdam’s lake music native Gaelic speaker puirt a beul songs Wed, 24 Aug 2011 01:52:55 +0000 792 at https://www.celticheart.ca A Summer Highlight - Highland Village Day https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/summer-highlight-highland-village-day
Although it is early to say for sure what the finest musical highlights will be on Cape Breton Island this summer, there is one concert that is guaranteed to be especially enjoyable because not only the music, but the view, is second to none in the world!

https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/summer-highlight-highland-village-day#comments Bras D’Or Lakes Cape Breton culture dancers fiddle Gaelic Highland Village Iona museum music outdoor concert piano pipes singers Wed, 13 Jul 2011 13:57:33 +0000 Celtic Heart 791 at https://www.celticheart.ca Old Tunes & The Flip Side https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/old-tunes-flip-side
read more
https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/old-tunes-flip-side#comments Andrea Beaton bagpiper Brenda Stubbert Cape Breton fiddle Fr. The music scene on Cape Breton Island now operates with what I look upon as a very fresh, up and coming, group of young (very talented) musicians. They are good people too. The encouraging fact is that a number of this younger generation of contributors, are for the most part, very respectful of a beautiful Gaelic culture. As a matter of fact, some of these “kids” are even fluent Gaelic speakers. It is a healthy scene.

https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/younger-generation#comments Angus MacKenzie Calum MacKenzie Cape Breton Celtic Colours Festival culture Dance fiddle Gaelic guitar Kenneth MacKenzie Mabou Mabou Coal Mines march Maureen MacKenzie piano piper younger generation Thu, 16 Dec 2010 01:22:31 +0000 521 at https://www.celticheart.ca A View from Away https://www.celticheart.ca/blog/view-away
Winter has come to an end.
