An Rubha

An Rubha

Bho chionn ghreis fhuair mi iris dhe 'n dealbh-ràithe "An Rubha" a chuireas an Clachan Gàidhealach amach. Mar is àbhaist, fhuair mi iomadh rud 'na broinn anns an do ghabh mi ùigh.

Bheir na dealbhan, cuid dhuibh air an togail 's cuid eile air an tarraing, aiteal dhuinn air beatha làitheil 'sa Chlachan agus an uiread de dh' obair ris am bi 'ad gu dìochallach. Chìthear annta dealbhan de dhaoine nach maireann a chum suas stàid na Gàidhlig ré 'n latha, daoine a bhios 'ga togail an diugh, agus luchd ionnsachaidh òga anns am bi ar dòchas 'san àm ri teachd. Chìthear cuideachd dealbhan eachdraidheil a sheallas dhuinn criomagan dhe 'n dòigh bheatha a bh' aig ar sinnsearan.

Tha e 'na thoileachas mhór dhomh bhith leughadh mu 'n uile oidheirp ghasda anns am bi 'ad an sàs.

Tha naidheachdan eile ri leughadh air cuspairean mar An Taigh Dubh, Uisg' a Airgid, Deanta le Làimh, agus A' Chas Chrom, cuspairean eachdraidheil air beatha nan Gàidheal ann an iomadh linn 'is àite.

Tha roinn de sgeulachdan ann, Léine an Duine Gun Chùram, Naidheachd Bheag Éibhinn, agus Corp Crèadha. Chaidh Corp Crèadha a chuir air chlò bho chionn bliadhnaichean anns a' phàipear naidheachd Ghàidhlig ann an Ceap Breatainn, Mac-Talla, agus leugh mi anns An Rubha gun do chuir Sabhal Mór Ostaig Mac-Talla air an eadar-lìn aig:

http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/en/leabharlann/mactalla/

agus bidh Gàidheil air feadh an t-saoghail 'nan comain airson na h-obrach móire sin a dheanamh.

Gheibhear òrain ann mar Luaidh Chaluim ( air fonn "Òran Luathaidh" le Donnchadh Bàn ), Tha Mo Run Air A' Ghille, agus òran ionadail air fonn Buain Na Rainich. A thaobh ceòl, tha léirmheas ann air "Dìleab Ailein", cruinneachadh de dh' òrain, cheòl, agus seachadas nan Gàidheal ann an Eilean nan Trosg.

Meal an Naidheachd air na daoine gasda a chuir An Rubha ri chéile, agus guidheam soirbheachadh math maireannach leibh uile 's leis a' Chlachan Ghàidhealach!

An Rubha

Recently I got an issue of the magazine " An Rubha" which the Highland Village publishes. As usual I found many items in it that piqued my interest.

The pictures, some taken with camera, some drawn by hand, give us a glimpse of daily life at the Village and the amount of work that they are consistently doing. You'll see in them pictures of people who have passed on who supported Gaelic in their day, of people who are working to promote it today, and the young learners who are our hope for the future. There are also historical pictures to be seen that show us bits of the lifestyle that our ancestors had.

But it's the stories that interest me especially.

There is news of the Village itself here, telling us what they've done this past year and what is before them in the coming years. It's a great pleasure for me to read about all the fine activities they are involved in.

There are other stories to read about subjects such asThe Black House, The Silver Water Cure, Hand Made, and The Foot Plow, historical topics about the life of the Gaels in many times and places.

There's a selection of stories, The Shirt of The Man Without Worry, A Short Funny Story, and The Clay Corpse. The Clay Corpse was published years ago in the Cape Breton Gaelic newspaper Mac-Talla, and I read in An Rubha that Sabhal Mór Ostaig has put Mac-Talla on the internet at:

http://www.smo.uhi.ac.uk/en/leabharlann/mactalla/

and Gaels all over the world are in their debt for this great work.

You'll find songs such as Luaidh Chaluim ( to the tune of Duncan Bàn's Òran Luathaidh ), Tha Mo Run Air A' Ghille, and a locally composed song to the tune of Buain Na Rainich. Speaking of music, there is a review of "Dìleab Ailein", a collection of songs, music and traditions of the Gaels in Newfoundland.

Congratulations to the fine people who put An Rubha together, and may I wish you all, and the Highland Village, continued good success!
